This post is related to food but as it is about liquid food and aims to reveal my thoughts and feelings during a detox program, it goes in this sections. It is about cleansing and about opening my cells to the gracious blossoming spring.
I've heard before about juicing but wasn't sure what period would be right for me or where to start from. But a recently started blog named Zdravei ("hello" in Bulgarian) by a sweet Bulgarian girl appeared conveniently when spring was just a couple of months ahead. The articles of the blog are very informative and give you the impetus you need to feel comfortable during this journey. Check this splendid source of information on juicing yourself.
So about a week ago I went out on hunting for veggies, greens and fruit to be ready for the 5 day juicing program. I decided to get a kick-start with a couple of raw days and I will continue with raw detox for about a week after that.
Today is my 5th day on juices and I feel great. From day one I am feeling very light and energetic, haven't had any headaches or hardships. The juices are really satisfying, filling and when you get hungry you either sip on a cup of tea or it is time for the next juice. I missed food as a whole, especially watching my colleagues at work nibbling on strawberries but after all 5 days are just a blink of an eye. I didn't follow all the recipes and their order. I like to adapt everything to my own taste and use the ingredients I have at hand. I changed pears with mangos. I tried juicing cauliflower, broccoli, nettle, parsnip, red cabbage... simply anything. :) And I loved it. My juicer is a low class one and didn't squeeze to perfection so I will surely upgrade in the near future.
As the end approaches I am certain of one thing - juices will my companion in my everyday life from now on. Be brave and try this detoxing joy! You won't regret it.
As a finale I am giving you a snippet of two of my delicious treats. The first one is liquefied pumpkin, red beet, carrots, green apples, celery, ginger and mint. The second one is made from green apples, nettle, fenchel, red cabbage, lemons. Bright colors of pure energy.
